Why do Shuangjin crushers hold up so well? Owners ask us this all the time. A big part of the answer is that we pour our own castings: everything from wear parts to the largest machine components is cast in one piece at our own foundry.
In 2007 Shuangjin took 30 mu of land in Nanling County, Wuhu, and built a foundry of its own — Wuhu Shuangjin Machinery Parts Co., Ltd. For close to twenty years it has done one thing: alloy steel casting, supplying the castings that go into complete Shuangjin machines.
The foundry produces around 10,000 tonnes of quality alloy steel castings a year. Several medium-frequency furnaces run at the same time, five transformers with a combined 6,320 kVA hold the power steady, the heaviest single casting reaches 15 tonnes, and 70 to 80 tonnes of molten steel are poured in a day. As alloy steel foundries go in China, that is a solid line.
Material quality is controlled from the first step. Back in 2012 the foundry brought in a German OBLF optical emission spectrometer, so the composition of incoming raw material and of every single heat is analysed: whether the alloy ratio is on spec, whether harmful impurities are present — all of it is on the record.
Equipment is only half of it. More than twenty experienced foundry engineers work on alloy formulation, tapping and pouring temperatures, and heat-treatment parameters — judgement that comes from years on the floor, and it is what keeps every casting consistent.
That is the base that supplies castings for more than a thousand complete machines a year. Over 85% of our core components are made in-house, so there is no patchy outsourced supply to worry about. Running our own foundry means casting quality is controlled at the source — which is what keeps uptime high and later maintenance costs down for the customer.
