SK.D Multi-Cylinder Hydraulic Cone Crusher

Twelve configurations across four sizes — fine, medium and coarse cavities on the same 1200/1400/1500/1800 platform. Built for plants that have to change product gradation without changing machines.

4 sizes× 3 cavity types

The SK.D is a multi-cylinder hydraulic cone: the crushing force is carried by a ring of hydraulic cylinders around the bowl, and the same cylinders provide overload protection, cavity clearing and discharge-setting adjustment. In practice that means a plant manager can shift the setting in minutes, and an uncrushable lump passes instead of breaking something expensive.

The reason we publish twelve rows instead of four is that a cone is defined by its cavity, not by its nominal size. A fine cavity on an 1800 platform and a coarse cavity on the same platform are different machines with different feed envelopes. Buyers who compare "an 1800 cone" between suppliers without checking the cavity are comparing nothing.

Typical duty: secondary after a jaw, or tertiary/quadrinary producing 0–20 mm aggregate and concrete-grade manufactured sand. Paired with an SJ.E.90.12 primary, an SK.D.1500 tertiary arrangement is the most common 300–500 t/h configuration we ship to West Africa.

Design & working principle

  • Full hydraulic adjustment and clearing — setting changes and cavity clearing from the control panel, no manual shimming.
  • Overload protection by cylinder relief — tramp metal passes through the cavity instead of stalling the drive or shearing a shaft.
  • Interchangeable cavity liners — coarse, medium and fine liners on the same platform, so a gradation change is a liner change rather than a new machine.
  • Labyrinth seal with positive-pressure dust exclusion — important in dry, dusty African quarry conditions where grease seals fail early.
  • Thin-oil lubrication with temperature and flow monitoring — the interlock stops the machine before a dry bearing becomes a failed eccentric.

Feed opening is the closed-side dimension. Capacities are open-circuit on medium-hard rock; closed-circuit tertiary duty producing 0–20 mm typically runs 15–25% below the open-circuit figure.

Configuration & options

Cavity

Coarse / medium / fine liners selectable at order — tell us your feed gradation and target product and we will specify the cavity, not leave it to you.

Automation

PLC control cabinet with setting display and overload logging; optional automatic setting regulation on the 1500/1800 platforms.

Lubrication

Thin-oil station with dual pumps and temperature interlocks. Air-cooled or water-cooled cooler depending on ambient temperature.

Drive

Motor sized to your actual duty cycle — a machine run at 50% load does not need the full-power motor, and we will price it accordingly.

Tropical package

High-ambient cooling, IP-rated electricals, anti-rust treatment, and rain covers for the lubrication station.

How to choose the right model

  1. Define the cavity first from your feed gradation. If more than 10% of the feed is smaller than the discharge setting, you will generate excessive fines and wear the liners unevenly — go finer, or screen the fines out first.
  2. Then confirm the reduction ratio is achievable: a single cone passes roughly 3–4:1. If you need more, plan a two-stage cone arrangement rather than over-stressing one machine.
  3. Match the motor to the duty, not the model. This is where we usually save buyers money on a real quotation, and it is the question most suppliers avoid.

Common questions

Multi-cylinder or single-cylinder — which should I buy?

It depends on your duty, not on which is newer. Multi-cylinder SK.D gives finer discharge control and better cavity flexibility, and is the right choice for tertiary work and manufactured sand. Single-cylinder SK.Y is a simpler hydraulic system with fewer cylinders to maintain, and is often the better value for coarse/medium secondary duty on high-tonnage plants. Tell us the duty and we will recommend one, including when the cheaper machine is good enough.

Can I change from medium to fine duty later?

Yes — the cavity liners are interchangeable on the same platform. The bowl and adjustment range stay the same; you change liners and update the setting. Many clients buy a medium cavity and order a fine liner set with the first spare-parts order.

What does the hydraulic system need on site?

A clean oil supply, a level foundation and a stable electrical supply for the lubrication station. On genset-powered or weak-grid sites we specify a soft-start arrangement specifically so the oil pump establishes flow before the crusher starts.
